The Rainbow Parade takes place on 26 June 2010 in Brno, the Czech Republic, to celebrate LGBTIQ pride. The pride event will be preceded by a cultural festival. Both events aim to enhance the visibility of sexual minorities and to support tolerance and respect in society.
Gay and lesbian groups and organisations from Brno, Prague and other cities and towns throughout the Czech and Slovak Republics, as well as non-governmental associations with a more general focus, are participating in the organisation of the events. By holding the queer parade and the accompanying events, we want to join public debate about some of the issues and problems facing sexual minorities. This year, we are focusing on same-sex families and the issue of growing up in them, as well as the issues of sexual orientation in certain social and ethnic groups, and the absence and/or negligence of certain rights of transgender individuals.
